72-1135. Clerk; appointment and duties. (a) The board of education of each school district shall appoint a clerk, who shall serve at the pleasure of the board. The clerk shall receive compensation fixed by the board. The clerk shall not be a member of the board and shall not be the same person as the superintendent of schools or the treasurer.

(b) The clerk shall keep an accurate journal of the proceedings of the board of education. The clerk shall have the care and custody of the records, books and documents of the board. The clerk shall prepare and submit to or for the board all reports required of him by the board and by law.
