59-2113. Who may adopt. Any adult, or married adult couple jointly, may adopt any minor or adult as their child in the manner provided in K.S.A. 59-2111 through 59-2143, and amendments thereto, except that one spouse cannot do so without the consent of the other.

1. Equitable estoppel does not override statutory denial of grandparents' visitation rights following grandchild's adoption. Sowers v. Tsamolias, 23 K.A.2d 270, 278, 929 P.2d 188 (1996).
